SketchUp’s Classifier embeds data into groups or components. Adding this data can help you track and manage every aspect of your model. You can also use this data in Building Information Modeling (BIM), a common workflow used when creating realistic models that incorporate real world, practical data.
With SketchUp’s Classifier you can:
- Count, measure, dimension, and tag objects.
- Generate reports.
- Analyze your model for meaningful data like energy performance and cost.
- Export objects into other formats or programs.
SketchUp saves classifications as SKC files. You can then use that same classification across other SketchUp models. You can also import or export industry standard classifications using the IFC format. The Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) file type is a standardized data format used in BIM. This file type provides interoperability between different applications for compiling and sharing data. IFC files contain detailed information about things like building components, geometry, and even price data.
