Creating and Editing a Style

SketchUp provides a lot of styles to choose from by default. If those don’t quite fit the needs of your design, you can always edit them, or even create a new one. To get started, open the Styles panel and follow these steps:

  1. To create a new style click Create New Style () on the Select tab. If you want to edit an existing style, move on to step 2.

  2. Select the new style you created, or an existing style to edit.
  3. Click the Edit tab. Edit the style using the following options:

    • Edge Settings () – Options that adjust how edges appear when the style is selected. For more information, see Edge Styles.
    • Face Settings () – Options that customize how faces appear when the style is selected. For more information, see Face Styles.
    • Background Settings () – Options for sky, horizon, and ground settings. For more information see Customizing a Model’s Background with Styles.
    • Watermark Settings () – Options allowing you to add a watermark. See Watermarking a Model for more information.
    • Modeling Settings () – Options that change the color of modeling cues like guides and axes.
  4. Click Update Style with Changes ().

All styles and changes to styles are saved to your model. For more information on how to manage the styles associated with your model, see Managing In Model Styles and Collections.
