Why does SketchUp for Windows crash when I open it?
The most common cause for startup crashes is a low-quality graphics card or out-of-date graphics drivers. If you have a higher-quality card installed and your drivers are up-to-date, Windows may default to the lower-quality one when running, causing the crash.
Depending on which card you use, you can make sure SketchUp always uses the correct graphics card in your card's application (NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Radeon Settings). You can also assign a graphics card to an application in the Graphics section of Windows Settings.
If you use a docking station or a secondary monitor you will also need to make sure those are connected to your higher-quality GPU.
