When you export a PDF of a document, LayOut creates a single PDF file that contains your document pages. To export your document as a PDF, follow these steps:

  1. Select File > Export. The Export PDF dialog box appears with the PDF format already selected in the Save As Type drop-down list.
  2. Navigate to the location where you want to save the PDF and type a name for the file.
  3. Click the Save button. The PDF Export Options dialog box appears.

Note: In MacOS, an Options button is available in the Export dialog. Click Options if you want to change any settings before importing your document. After changing any options, clicking OK returns you to the Export dialog.
  4. By default, LayOut includes all the pages in your document in the PDF. To specify a page range instead, select Range and type your desired page range.
  5. A great way to reduce the file size of the resulting PDF is to compress images in your LayOut document. Select Use JPEG Compression for Images and move the slider to Smaller File to reduce the quality of the images, reducing the file size. For a higher quality image, move the quality slider to Better Quality.
  6. LayOut creates a PDF layer that corresponds to each layer in your document. If you don't want LayOut to create these layers, deselect Create PDF Layers from LayOut Layers.
  7. LayOut displays the exported PDF file in your system's PDF viewer immediately after export. If you don't want LayOut to open the file for you, deselect Show Export in PDF Viewer.
  8. Click Export.
