SketchUp Studio for Universities - FAQ

Which SketchUp products are included in the SketchUp Studio for Universities subscription?

The SketchUp Studio for Universities subscription provides access to all SketchUp Studio for Higher Education products. This includes SketchUp Pro, LayOut, Sefaira, SketchUp Web, PreDesign, 3D Warehouse, Extension Warehouse, Trimble Connect and viewers for mobile and AR/VR platforms. SketchUp Studio for Universities does not include V-Ray rendering services or Scan Essentials.

How much does SketchUp Studio for Universities cost?

SketchUp Studio for Universities is a bulk subscription offering with tiered pricing options based on the number of seats you need, starting at a minimum of 10 seats.

For more detailed plan and pricing information see our detailed SketchUp for Universities page.

How do I assign products to new users?

As an Account Owner, Secondary Account Owner, or Administrator, you have access to the Trimble Account Management Portal (AMP), and can add new users and assign product access. For detailed steps on how to perform these, and other functions within the AMP, see Managing Members.

What is the difference between SketchUp Studio for Universities and Networked Lab Licensing?

SketchUp Studio for Universities provides named-user subscription seats for the SketchUp Studio for Higher Education product suite. These seats can be used both on and off campus, and may be reassigned as needed during a subscription term. Users login using a personal Trimble ID and have two activations available for access on multiple devices.

Networked Lab Licenses are floating network licenses installed on desktop computers using an activation key, may only be used on site, and do not require individual logins. For more details see SketchUp for Universities.

I have a Network Lab License. What changes should I expect?

Network Lab Licenses are still available to higher education institutions, for both new and existing customers. There will be no changes to the deployment, contents or purchasing process for these licenses. For more details or for pricing questions please reach out to your local reseller.

I have an Institutional Laptop License. What changes can I expect?

Institutional Laptop Licenses (ILLs) are no longer available for purchase. SketchUp Studio for Universities offers both bulk purchasing and the corresponding tiered pricing ILLs offered.

How do I renew without disruption?

Near the end of a subscription period, account holders will be notified that the account is up for renewal. 30 days before expiration, account holders will be able to reach out to a reseller directly through the Plan Settings page in the Trimble Account Management Portal. Another notification will be sent 10 days prior to expiration. Subscriptions renewed prior to the expiration date will continue to provide access to all users without interruption. Renewals requested after the expiration date will be treated as a new order and will require assigning all users new entitlements.

What do I do if a user leaves midterm?

User roles and product access can be managed through the Trimble Account Management Portal by those with Account Owner, Secondary Account Owner, or Administrator roles. To revoke product access see Managing Roles and User Access.

If I purchase new seats partway into the semester, will they be considered a part of my previous order?

Additional subscription seats purchased at a later date are considered a separate order. These seats can be purchased either at a rate prorated to reflect the original order’s expiration date, or for an additional full one year term. For more personalized purchasing options, contact your local reseller.
